Former SMI MP candidate arrested
Tirana police have arrested the former candidate for deputy of the SMI in Tirana, Etion Joka, 6 months after he was declared wanted.
The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has imposed on him the security measure of arrest in prison for the criminal offense of "active corruption in elections".
He was declared wanted by police on April 24, a day before the election, but his arrest had not yet been made.
Joka was filmed giving money for votes before the April 25 elections. He is registered giving money to a person who talks to him about buying votes and promises him support in Tirana.
They talk and do calculations of how much a vote costs. In another recording, the SMI candidate was filmed teaching the citizen who is filming him how to vote, after giving him the money.
