The head of the Special Prosecution, Arben Kraja has spoken this Wednesday against the vetting process for politicians by the institution he leads, Kraja noted that undertaking this process by SPAK would be a very big burden for prosecutors .

In the Council of Legislation, where the constitutional amendments submitted by the Democratic Party are being discussed, the Head of SPAK said that vetting in politics is an administrative procedure provided in the constitution for about 200 entities. This is a procedure that takes time and with these criteria should be evaluated, he added.

On the other hand, Kraja underlined that the Special Prosecution has had a negative experience with the action against the subjects of Operation Force of Law, as it was a task, which distracted them from the object of their work.

In relation to the material that has been prepared for the inclusion of SPAK. It is an administrative procedure provided in the constitution to be carried out that includes about 200 entities. A procedure that takes time and with these criteria should be evaluated.

Formally, it is an opportunity to assign other tasks to the prosecution, but these should not hinder the essence of the prosecution's work, which is criminal prosecution. It is an extraordinary workload. We have had a negative experience with OFLs. It was a legally charged task that diverted us from the object of our work. I would therefore consider inappropriate the involvement of SPAK in this process. I am against the involvement of the Special Prosecution in this administrative process ", said Kraja.
