Albin Kurti: The project of dividing or exchanging territories had a counterpart

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said that the project of dividing Kosovo or exchanging territories has failed, but he has admitted that the idea is not dead yet. He even adds that there was a counterpart of this idea in Kosovo.

From the Peace Forum in Paris, Kurti said: "Now we live in an era where this project of exchanging territories has failed. But I believe that the idea is not dead yet and I see that wherever I meet I hear the president of Serbia committing to such a thing, because the fantasy may not be real, but it conditions the thinking and behavior or activity of the parties. People who have dreamed for many years about the division of Kosovo or the exchange of territories, it is very difficult to abandon this nostalgia and this sadness and engage in a solution that would be democratic and European. This project of territory exchanges also had a counterpart in Kosovo, by one of my ancestors, because at that time it was seen as a quick adjustment between authoritarian leaders who talk about the people as their family and about the territories of the states as if they were property. theirs. This had a kind of monarchy flavor that no longer exists, but despite the failure of the project as such, I have to admit that the idea still exists, but without any great possibility that it will come into force", said Kurti.
