Official / Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona: I will talk to Messi from now on
Joan Laporta is the new president of Barcelona. The former No. 1 "blaugrana" between 2003 and 2010, will remain in office for the next six years. He convincingly won the Catalan club's presidential election with 78.85% of the vote. More precisely, he received 19,675 votes.
After Laportas were ranked Víctor Font with 10 598 preferences and Toni Freixa with 3399, the latter an outspoken supporter of former President Bartomeu. Lionel Messi also voted for the new head of the "blaugrana" club.
With his triumph this Sunday, Laporta returns to hold the position he has covered in a period that coincides with the great successes of the best Barcelona in history, of that spectacular team led by Pep Guardiola.
The challenge for Laporta will be great, as Barcelona's overall situation is delicate, both in sport and in the economy, due to the mismanagement of the previous management dome.
The first, and most important step, towards a rebirth of Barcelona, ??will be the persuasion of Lionel Messi to stay with the "blaugranat". Laporta, in fact, appeared very confident when asked Sunday morning if he would call Messi's father, Jorgen, after winning the election: "I will not wait for the next day. I can talk to him tonight. "The night is long."
