An era is coming to an end for German football. After 15 years, Joachim Löw will say goodbye to the national team. Germany will change coach at the end of Euro 2020.

The official announcement was made by the DFB, the German Football Association, on Tuesday morning: Löë will retire after trying to win another important trophy at the helm of "Mannschaft", after success in the World Cup Brazil 2014 and the Cup of Confederations in 2017. Low Germany also reached the Euro 2008 final, where they were defeated by Spain.

The coach from Freiburg, was appointed to the staff of the German national team first as assistant to Jurgen Klinsmann, then as head coach since 2006. His reign lasted 15 years.

With Low on the bench, Germany has always reached at least the semi-finals from 2008 to 2016. In the final of the last World Cup, in Russia, Low Germany was eliminated from the group stage, receiving a lot of criticism.

Löw's contract expired in 2022, but he has decided to retire immediately after the European. His successor has not yet been decided by the German Football Association.
