Side effects of consuming salty foods

If you are a fan of salty foods and eat them regularly, you may not be fully aware of what is happening to your body.

The American Heart Association actually recommends that adults do not consume more than 2,300 milligrams a day, while the ideal limit according to them is 1,500 milligrams.

But what happens to your body if you constantly consume more than you need salt:

1 You will drink less water.

You think that by consuming something with a lot of salt you will have more thirst, this applies to cases when salt consumption is in rare cases.

If you consistently consume high-salt foods according to studies you will end up drinking less and less water.

2 You can add weight.

If you like to eat salty foods, you can add weight. Researchers at Deakin University found that consuming excess salt can encourage you to eat more food.

3 You will feel bloated.

Consuming salty foods every day will lead to bloating. A study in the American Journal of Gastroenterology found that bloating was more common in those on a high-sodium diet compared to those who consumed less.

4 Fingers will swell.

You will not just feel bloating in your stomach. If you are consuming a lot of salty foods, your fingers may swell.

5 Your skin will become acne prone.

There is a lot of evidence to support the idea that acne and diet have a direct impact on each other. According to a study of 200 participants people who consumed salty foods had more acne than others.

6 Your head hurts.

According to a study in the journal BMJ, of the 400 participants who participated, those who ate high-sodium foods had more headaches than those who ate low-sodium foods. Another study supported this claim and also found that reducing sodium in your diet reduces headache.

7 You may have high blood pressure.

This is no secret. There are many studies proving that taking too much sodium is associated with a risk of developing high blood pressure. This is not an immediate effect, but over time you may suffer from hypertension.
