Due to the large influx of citizens of the Western Balkan countries returning home for the holidays and due to anti-Covid measures, there are long waits of up to ten hours at the borders of the Balkan states. The news is given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, which announces that the waits at the Slovenian-Croatian border are up to 10 hours, while at the borders between Hungary and Serbia, up to five hours.

On the other hand, this Ministry informs that it has created an emergency headquarters within the Embassies of Kosovo to come to the aid of its citizens who have left for their homeland.

"Citizens who transit through the territory of Serbia, due to the new measures that enter on December 20, where the negative test for Covid will be required, they must leave the territory of this country within 12 hours. The increase of controls due to these measures is expected to increase the expectations at the border crossing points at the entrance and exit of Serbia, for which our citizens who have taken the road to Kosovo should be informed ", it is said in the announcement.

Also, the Ministry says that the delays in the borders of the Balkan countries are being caused due to the increased controls, after the measures imposed by the respective states against the COVID-19 pandemic.
