In an online meeting with senior ODIHR representatives, Damian Gjiknuri spoke about the upcoming elections in Albania. The former head of the Parliamentary Commission for Electoral Reform and a member of the Political Council has posted a status on Facebook indicating that the Electoral Reform met the OSCE recommendations, but in some other parts they were sacrificed only to please the opposition outside parliament.

At the invitation of senior ODIHR executives, I had the pleasure of being part of an online meeting focusing on the Western Balkans Election Support Project. As co-chair of the Ad-hoc Commission for Electoral Reform and a member of the Political Council, I spoke about the important reform process undertaken by Albania this year, as well as thanking the ODIHR for its support at all stages of the discussions. I informed about the efforts made by the majority for the realization of a reform with the widest possible consensus. The product of the recent electoral reform met some of the OSCE / ODIHR recommendations while unfortunately sacrificing some other substantial ones just to satisfy the demands of the extra-parliamentary opposition. Two days ago, Gjiknuri announced that he had been touched by Covid and was staying isolated at home. His health condition is good.
