France to pay for 10 psychology sessions for children facing post-Covid consequences
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that the state will pay for ten psychotherapy sessions for children whose mental health has been affected by the pandemic.
"Today we have a health problem that adds to the epidemic and has affected our children and adolescents," Macron said during a meeting with health care workers.
Psychological sessions for children between the ages of 3 and 17 will be reimbursed 100% and this assistance will be provided until the last day of the pandemic.
According to data from health authorities, visits to psychological services in France increased by 40% by 2020 and 40% of parents say they noticed signs of mental health problems in their children during the first isolation.
10 100% reimbursed sessions may not be considered sufficient by some people, but they are the first step towards turning attention to an important point: the consequences that Covid and isolation caused to mental health.
