Former United States Secretary of State John Kerry will act as special envoy for the climate when US President-elect Joe Biden takes office as the 46th President of the United States.
Kerry is one of the few people who will hold important positions in the Biden administration. Former United States Secretary of State Kerry is the person who signed the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015. He is also set to be the first official dedicated to climate change to sit on the National Security Council.
Kerry previously served as secretary of state during Barack Obama's second term. A veteran Democratic politician, he lost to incumbent Republican George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election.
Meanwhile, as reported, Antony Blinken will be the new Secretary of State and the position of Secretary for National Security will be held by Alejandro Mayorkas.
Director for National Intelligence will be Avril Haines. She will become the first woman to take up the post. Haines has worked with Biden in various roles for over a decade.
The US Ambassador to the UN will be Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
She is a career diplomat and returns to work after retiring after more than 35 years of career.
National Security Adviser is expected to be Jake Sullivan. He was a political adviser to Biden.
