Should pregnant women get the anti-Covid vaccine? What the American expert advises
One of the groups for which the benefits but also the risks from the coronavirus vaccine are discussed are pregnant women. Pregnant women or those who are breast-feeding are not excluded as a category, but health experts urge them to talk to their doctor before making a decision.
American expert Amy Whitten says that in fact there have been cases of pregnant women who have become very ill after being infected with coronavirus: There are many cases where hospitalization and intensive treatment has been required .
The expert points out that pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding are not involved in the testing phases of the vaccine produced by some companies.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists suggests the vaccine to these groups, but the expert says that for this you should first consult a doctor.
"It has been found that while the vaccine has not been specifically studied for pregnant women, in women who became pregnant after receiving the vaccine and those who were not vaccinated their health status was the same."
