A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale has shaken the province of Izmir in Turkey. The Turkish Emergency Situations Agency reports that the quake had its epicenter in the Aegean Sea. The quake was 16.5 kilometers deep. According to Turkish media, the quake was felt most in the Aegean and Marmara region, where Istanbul is located. The tremors were also felt in Greece, including the capital Athens.
