We do not underestimate the dialogue with Serbia, but Kosovo has three

Kosovo-Serbia talks will not be avoided with the new government of Albin Kurti but will not be a priority. In an interview with VOA, the leader of Vetëvendosje says that his government, which is expected to be formed in the coming days, has three priorities before the dialogue process: Justice, employment and pandemic!

Asked if the situation with Serbia at the helm could be complicated, as critics say, Albin Kurti responds by saying that there can be no more pro-Western, more democratic, deeper-minded political entity within the Western Euro-Atlantic orientation. and European.

Excerpts from the interview:

VOA: Mr. Kurti, we just mentioned your alliances and, of course, your orientation towards the European Union and the United States of America. One of the challenges that awaits you in relation to the international community is that of negotiations with Serbia. You have stated that it is not a priority for you, but the main allies, the United States of America, have called for it to become a priority. How will you act?

Albin Kurti: We do not want to avoid dialogue and underestimate its importance, but we consider that the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo have chosen us to bring justice and employment and of course it is urgent to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on all the public opinion polls in Kosovo, when I ask the citizens what importance you attach to the dialogue with Serbia, it is usually in the sixth or seventh place, I will be able to do let’s say a concession and bring it to fourth place after justice, employment and pandemic, but can not bring it to the top two priorities. So, I do not want to underestimate it but I can not say that the two priorities will be in the top because we are coming out of a giant victory of the Vetëvendosje movement, in which the citizens voted for us for what they need the most.

A ndikon kjo?

Gjithashtu mendoj se do t’i vjen radha edhe dialogut.

Albin Kurti: Old ideas are old ideas, over time the age increases, so the old ideas become even older and I do not believe that they can be turned into new projects. Old projects have failed and we do not need to regenerate them.
