The day of electoral silence in Kosovo, on the eve of the historic elections

Although this has been one of the shortest campaigns in the last decade in Kosovo, lasting only 10 days, the intensity has been higher than ever before. The ban on former Prime Minister and poll leader Albin Kurti from running for parliament by the CEC, along with trials in The Hague for former President Hashim Thaci and former Parliament Speaker Kadri Veseli, has given a historic tone to this election cycle.

Also, the elections are the first in the fact that they will be held by the Kosovo authorities and not by the OSCE, which organized the last elections, and for the first time the Serbian ministry will have to be equipped with a document issued by the authorities of the Republic of Kosovo to vote.

Also in the political and ideological plan, Kosovo faces for the first time the dichotomy between internationalism and support for the international factor and a more nationalist spirit, represented by the Vetëvendosje Movement.

The Central Election Commission has certified the Final List of Voters inside and outside Kosovo for the February 14 elections, where 1,794,862 citizens have the right to vote. 143 thousand 6 voters less than in the parliamentary elections of 2019. The number of Voting Centers throughout Kosovo is 888, with a total of 2 thousand 382 polling stations.
