The story of Lina Medina, the girl who became a 5-year-old mother

Maybe few know her name, but you may have encountered the story somewhere. Lina Medina is the girl who became a mother at a young age.

Lina lived in a village in Peru. She was 5 years, 7 months and 21 days old when she gave birth to a son. Her case is considered rare even by the medicine of that time and of this time.

Her parents Tiburelo and Victoria rushed her to the hospital because of abdominal swelling. They were afraid of any tumor mass. The doctors' response shocked them. Their daughter was pregnant, in the seventh month. Her parents took her to the capital where she spent a month and a half before giving birth.

The boy was named Gerardo Alejandro and weighed 2.7 kilograms. The name was given in honor of the two doctors who assisted in the difficult birth of the 5-year-old.

The birth was performed through cesarean section as her pelvis was delicate and unprepared for birth.

Lina had developed much faster. Her puberty was premature. She had her first menstrual cycle 1 month before pregnancy. Pituitary gland disorder caused this problem.

The news of her pregnancy immediately raised the question: Who is the father of the child?

At first it was her father who was arrested on charges of rape and incest, but for lack of evidence he was released. Suspicions were also cast on her older brother who was suffering from mental health. Another suspicion was about their pagan culture in which some holidays were celebrated by having group sex and children were not excluded from this tradition either.

No one ever found out who the father of her child was. Lina never told him, or maybe she herself did not know.
