IMF optimistic forecast for the Albanian economy: It will grow by 5% this year
A more optimistic forecast for this year from the International Monetary Fund, which in the last report shows that for this year, Albania will have an economic growth of 5%, a higher estimate than the projections that the government has made in the budget of this year, but lower than the Autumn report estimate for an expected increase of 5.4%.
In the Global Economic Outlook report, the International Monetary Fund did not share the same assessment for last year's recession as that of the Albanian Institute of Statistics, estimating it 0.2 percentage points deeper than the Albanian authorities.
In the published report, you can see the table for Albania that stands out as the second country with the fewest effects from the pandemic. While other countries with somewhat similar economies, such as Montenegro, where tourism occupies the largest share, is seen to have experienced a recession of 15. 2%.
One of the factors influencing the growth of the economy is the vaccination process. Other factors are: economic support packages and the revitalization of tourism and transport.
Globally, the economy is projected to recover with growth of 6% and 4.4% in 2022.
