Shipping by sea improved in November, up 32 percent from a year earlier, but shipping for both passengers and freight was hardest hit by the pandemic.

In the 11 months of 2020, the volume of goods processed in ports is 3,919 thousand tons, decreasing by 4.4%, compared to the eleventh month of 2019.

The decline was also present in rail transport. In the 11-month period of 2020, the volume of goods transported by rail is 23,279 thousand tons / kilometer, decreasing by 42.0%, compared to the 11-month period of 2019.

In the 11-month period of 2020, the volume of air transported goods was 1,616.7 tons, decreasing by 23.9%, compared to the 11-month period of 2019. Due to the presence of restrictions in November, the number of flights performed is 1,246 marking a decrease of 41.4%, compared to November 2019.

The transport sector has shown weakness especially in passenger lines. Compared to November 2019, this indicator has decreased 63.4% in maritime transport. In the 11-month period of 2020, 344,660 passengers traveled by sea, decreasing by 77.0%, compared to the same period of 2019.

November 2020, air passenger transport accounts for 77.2% of total transport. The number of passengers who have traveled by airline in the 11 months of 2020 is 1,224,874 passengers, decreasing by 60.1%, compared to the 11 months of 2019.

In November 2020, the value of traded goods (export and import) is ALL 83.0 billion and 49.3% of them were transported by sea. In the 11-month period of 2020, the value of traded goods (export and import) is 792.6 billion ALL and 49.5% of them were transported by sea.

Goods exported by road in November 2020 increased by 13.5%, compared to the same period of 2019. In the 11 months of 2020, goods exported by sea accounted for 55.6%, by road 42.5% and air 0.5. Goods exported by road decreased by 2.5% compared to the same period of 2019.

In the 11 months of 2020, imported goods by sea accounted for 46.8%, by road 47.2% and by air 2.9%. Goods imported by road have decreased by 0.4% compared to the same period of 2019.
