Popular music singer Drita Papajani has passed away at the age of 85. She took to the stage as a folk song artist in the early 1960s as a discovery of the great Shkodra man Paulin Pali.

"A great lady of the Albanian folk song passed away today at 10.00: Drita Papajani! As the daughter of a priest, after the 1990s she took an active part in the revival of religious faith in Albania. Mrs. Drita was one of the first to become active for the opening of the Evangelical Church, and again placed her talent in the service of the church choir of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church, which was led first by maestro Eno Koço, and then the late prof.

Biography

In her long artistic life as a member of the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances, Papajani managed to put her name alongside the greatest performers of our folk song such as Luçije Miloti, Bik Ndoja, Fitnete Rexha, Hafsa Zyberi, Naile Hoxha , Xhevdet Hafizi, Bajram Spahiu, Pjetër Gjergji, Kel Sota, Emil Miloti, Despina Trimcev, Sadete Toska, Sanije Shaqiri (Pali), Hajrie Harapi, and others.

Her music recordings can be found in the golden fund of Radio Tirana and in the Film Archive. After the 1990s, she participated in the revival of the religious faith in Albania, becoming one of the first to become active in opening the Evangelical Church, as well as re-establishing her talent in the service of the church choir of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
