The result of April 25 will be delayed more than the previous elections
It will take longer than in the previous elections to get the full result after the April 25 elections. This is because in addition to the votes for the parties, those will also be counted for the candidates who will be declared deputies of the regions where they have received the most votes. The votes will also be counted for the candidates who are assigned by number, and must be collected by name.
In the interview, the member of the Regulatory Commission at the CEC, Dritan Caka says that the process will be longer than usual, but for him it is more important to respect the will of every citizen through free voting.
"The process of counting the votes will be longer than usual, but it does not matter the speed but the result, that each vote is counted as the citizen has expressed his will."
Regarding the ballot printing company, he said they are expected to arrive by April 22nd.
"Considering the communications with the Slovenian company and the decision of the Electoral College with numbers, the ballot papers should be available by April 22. If there was another decision of the College, this could complicate the process, and could require more time. "From the latest communications that the CEC has had with the company, it is guaranteed that the ballot papers will be ready by April 25."
To the citizens' questions that they can confuse the number with the deputy, or in cases when they do not remember, Caka said that in the secret room there will be leaflets with the names of the candidates and the numbers that correspond to them, to then choose with X on the ballot paper.
"It may be a little more difficult to identify the number and the candidate who corresponds to them. The respective lists with the corresponding number and name will be displayed for each party, the same will happen in the secret room."
