The cold changes one point of the anti-Covid guide to schools

The Ministry of Education has been forced to change one of the points of the anti-Covid guide for schools, due to low temperatures.

Classrooms are no longer required to keep windows open throughout class. Obligation is occasional ventilation, 5-6 times during school hours. The extreme drop in temperatures in recent days led to this decision.

Full notice

The health of students and teaching staff is a top priority of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.

Therefore, taking into account the low temperatures throughout the country, as well as the right concerns of parents, we feel the need to underline that the Guide for the start of the school year 2020-2021, in compliance with the instructions of the MSHMS, taking into account the changes of temperatures according to the seasons, does not absolutely require keeping the windows open all the time, but also allows ventilation of the classrooms several times during the day.

More precisely, it clearly states that: "WINDOWS SHOULD BE KEEP OPEN OR AT LEAST BE AIRED 5-6 TIMES DURING THE LEARNING TIME".

Therefore, we ask all Educational Institutions to pay attention to the implementation of this instruction, taking maximum care to maintain a constant temperature in the classroom, in order to protect the health of students and teachers.
