12 months probation for Judge Luan Daci: I am not leaving, I am being beaten
Suspended member of the Special Appellate Panel, Luan Daci, was sentenced to 6 months in prison, converted into 12 months of probation. The appeal of the Special Court against Crime and Corruption gave its decision today, leaving in force the decision given by the Court of First Instance.
But Judge Luan Daci stated after the decision that he will not leave the KPA: I will appeal within two days, this is a well-organized coup but it will fail, said the judge but without specifying by whom and why.
The judge was accused of forging documents by the GJKKO. According to SPAK, Luan Daçi hid a decision to dismiss him in 1997 to become part of the KPA again.
Daci was suspended from his post as a member of the KPA after being investigated by the SPAK following allegations that he had concealed the fact that he had been dismissed from the post of judge in 1997.
He was initially suspended on May 20, 2020 and was taken into custody, but the Appeal overturned the decision by reinstating the judge just 2 weeks later. He was formally taken as a defendant and according to the law in force is automatically suspended any prosecutor or judge who is taken as a defendant until the end of the trial.
